One of easy way to stick to healthy eating is starting your day right, our mothers and teachers and now scientists too have emphasised the importance of breakfast. There are many researches to confirm the role of a healthy breakfast in eating right for an energetic day ahead. That is why I designed this 30 Days 30 Breakfast Challenge for myself.
Healthy breakfast can be anything that includes whole grains, fruits, lean protein and some dairy. So some kind of sandwich, a fruit smoothie or even a bowl of whole grain cereal with ½ a fruit can count for a healthy breakfast. But as a family we have decided to do away with sugary ready to eat cereals for good {it’s been years and we do not miss it}.
My family likes to eat a properly cooked and wholesome breakfast and most of the time look forward to it {Thank God, there is not breakfast hater in the family}. But from the time teen has joined college, he has to leave home early and that has made the task all the more challenging.
According many studies it takes 30 days and a willpower to develop a new habit, so last week I have decided to throw this 30 Days of Breakfast challenge for myself so that Teens get to eat their favourites for next 30 days to start with. So teens are excited and looking forward to it. I know this is going to be a challenging task since I generally am in habit of repeating the menu after few days , but to make it more interesting, I added another dimensions that everyday I am going to cook a popular breakfast option from 30 different countries. So to make all the festivities of Diwali all the more interesting there will be a new breakfast menu everyday.
I am posting about the event so that in case you also want to take up the challenge you have some time to shop for it. This shopping list can help you to plan and buy ingredients for a week’s breakfast.
I will keep tweeting { tweet to me
@rekhakakkar} and posting regular updates about my choice of ingredients and products on
my facebook page { Join me here} as well as 30 days breakfast challenge board on pinterest { start pinning away}. I am going to use
#30healthybreakfasts on twitter so if you want to add something from your side use this hashtag so that we all can connect and compile a list of breakfast.
I have created a pinterest board specifically for these 30 days breakfast ideas { 30 Days 30 Breakfasts}. In case you are on pinterest please follow this board for latest updates.
I am sticking to a Mediterranean breakfast theme for the first week , but I have a feeling some days it is going to be hard to figure out what’s next; so I want your suggestions and ideas on what to cook , what ingredients and which region for the next week. If you are a blogger you can link your healthy breakfast ideas at the end of this blog page or if you do not have a blog, your comment is enough to point me in right direction.
I know that healthy breakfast is one such habit that should last lifelong, but I am taking it one bite at a time, so I am hoping that smaller but manageable bites one at a time is going to be good.
If You are a blogger, please use the challenge logo that is provided below in your post and link your post to this breakfast post. This helps to spread the word and hence more ideas

Hi Rekha,
I was in Scotland a few years back (2009) and stayed at a heritage hotel. One of the most memorable part of my trip was having a SCOTTISH BREAKFAST. Though I am neither a good cook or a good blogger but I would like to share some links

Good luck for your contest will try to keep catching up with your 30 days.

I love this idea. I am so lazy with my breakfast, it is usually the same everyday.
I love the idea. Definitely out of my comfort zone.
would like some pointers though
Love the idea. I think I am going to join you in doing this. We have never really eaten boxed cereals, so planning a breakfast is a big deal for me.. every week.
I think this is really neat; I’m always looking for more breakfast ideas. Tired of boring toast/oatmeal/cereal
If someone hasn’t suggested it yet, I like to eat congee for breakfast
(Cantonese style) It is something I grew up with. I like it with preserved egg, ginkgo nuts, and soybean sheets, and a little pork/chicken, too.
What a fantastic idea
You will certainly test your taste buds and no doubt discover many new dishes
Here is what we eat in Finland;
Graavi lax on black bread with lots of butter and fresh dill
Graavi is slamon filets that are covered lightly with course salt, then covered with Fresh Dill and with a few drops of brandy
Then cover with grease paper and place heavy dish on top
Leave in cold fridge for 48 hours and then slice thin strips of filey
It is extremely healthy with Omega 3 fish oils and tasty
Bon Apertite !
What a great idea and gives a refence or some wonderful dishes or quick breakfasts
Very ambitious! I am excited to see what you come up with.
