Cooking With Fruits: Sweet and Sour Plum Chutney
4
Summer is time when our markets are full of stone fruits,
big or small sweet or sour all these juicy things in their full glory. Always
has a love hate relationship with summers , I hate summers but love stone
fruits, so have to bear summer because it brings stone fruits. Am I babbling? See I told you summer heat usually has this
effect on me.

This week after grocery shopping we got almost all varieties of stone fruits
that were available at the store. Apricots, cherries, plums and mangoes to
indulge in juicy sweetness.

Fortunately teens love their fruits as much as (if
not more) their burgers and fries, so unlike many mothers I really don’t have
to make much effort to hide fruits in the dishes, they love to sink their teeth
into juicy flesh of fruits (Thank God for small mercies).

As much as they are so good as it is, cooking with stone
fruits is also a breeze and believe me, so worth it! Chop up some for fruit in salad for a nice
tang, bake some healthy goodies and cook them up for a quick sauce or preserve
to go with your desserts or breakfast, stone fruits are always there to add a
kick to any dish.

This week I cooked and canned some of our favourite
preserves and chutneys with stone fruits.

Fruity chutney is my cup of tea…rhyming? Yeah! The weather makes me babble too…so says my little girl. I love your chutney recipe, easy to make and very versatile. Most fruits go wasted when they are in season and there are too much of them, you cannot just not buy a big batch. Canning them is a great way to keep them handy and ready when you need a fruity sauce or something to spice up a plain, boring dessert.
