Wheat Flour Tortilla
7
Tortilla means “little torta” or “little cake” in Spanish; word applies to several different foods eaten in various Spanish-speaking countries, Flatbread tortillas have been eaten for many centuries in Mexico, where they are a staple and used as base in many delicious recipes like burritos ,quesadilla ,nachos and who does not love salsa and tortilla chips.
This is basic recipe of wheat tortilla which I have made using combination of whole wheat flour and all purpose flour, added a bit of baking powder to make them softer and puffed up.
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1tbsp oil
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup Milk
- ½ tsp Baking Powder
Directions
Divide the dough into 10 portions and roll each into a ball.
Lay the tortilla on the hot griddle after 30 to 45 seconds, when there are browned spots start to appear.
Flip it over. Cook 30 to 45 seconds more, until brown spots appear; don’t overcook the tortilla or it will become crisp.
