I like to use chickpeas in everyday cooking not only for the health reasons but i find them very tasty too. But during this season when fresh green chana( choliya) are in season for limited period, I dont want to miss out on them and buy in good quantity to prepare many dishes out of them.
Yesterday I was craving to eat cholia curry and my daughter asked me to cook something paneer, I was not feeling my optimum and in no mood to cook so thought of making paneer , but once inside kitchen I thought to combine these two and Green Chickpeas curry was the result. Served it with rice and it passed the family test with flying colours.
- Green Chana 2 cups
- Paneer cubes 25 g
- Basic bhuna masala 1 cup
- Coriander leaves 2 tbsp
- Grated ginger
Cube Paneer and wash green choliya and prepare bhuna masala according to instruction here.
Take 1 tsp oil in a deep dish and add grated ginger cook for 2 minutes and add bhuna masala.
Add 3-4 tbsp water in the masala and add green choliya. I buy green choliya in bulk quantities so I have stored them in freezer thats why their is hint of ice in them.mix it well and let them cook in masala for 4-5 minutes.
Now add cubed paneer and 2 cups of water . Cook them covered for 7-8 minutes it cooks very fast as green chana is frozen and paneer also cooks very fast. Choliya paneer is ready serve it hot with jeera rice or Chapati .
