Makhana Kheer
1
Other day I was craving to have something sweet, A feeling that is not very common with me. I am one of those people who generally don’t prefer to eat sweets, so it was kind of strange thing happening to me. But when I have some cravings most of the times my stratagy is to wait for sometime before giving in and even if after those 15 minutes I still feel like having it I go ahead and eat a very tiny portion of it rather than resisting and making the craving more intense.
This time when I still wanted to eat some dessert so give in to the temptation of thisĀ Freezer Ready Healthy Indian Home-cooked Meals
.
Ingredients
- Makhana (lotus seeds) 50 gms
- Milk 1 liter
- Raisins 15
- Almonds 10
- Ghee 1 Tbsp
Method
Take a pan and pour 1 tbsp of ghee in this here i have used ghee because oil does not complement the taste and flavor of the dish .Now add phool makhana to this pan and lightly roast them while stirring constantly to prevent burning or charring.
After roasting the Makhana allow these to cool and put them in grinder and grind them coarsely while grinding just use pulse function as these are very light and if you are not careful these become very powdery in texture which is not good for making kheer.
Take milk in a thick bottomed pan and on slow heat let it cook till it is reduced to half , than add coarsely ground makhana and sugar to it and let it simmer for another 10 minutes.Remove from heat and sprinkle cardamom powder in this and
Garnish with slivered almonds and serve chilled in individual bowls.
